Structural CAD to BIM model from traditional CAD drawings to a reliable BIM model
We turn 2D structural drawings into intelligent, accurate and coordinated structural BIM models that improve design, documentation and the construction stages that follow.
Request a structural CAD to BIM consultationWhat is structural CAD to BIM migration?
More than drawing in 3D
Structural CAD to BIM migration converts structural information developed in 2D drawings into an intelligent, coordinated structural BIM model. The process organizes, visualizes and manages structural information in a far more efficient and accurate digital environment. It turns technical information into a structural model with reliable data, ready for coordination.

Advantages
Why migrate to BIM with ?
Inconsistencies caught early
CAD drawings are reviewed first: whatever does not match between them is reported before modeling, not on site.
One model instead of a drawing set
The structure lives in a single model of intelligent elements that can be queried, filtered and quantified.
Views drawn from the model
Plans, sections and elevations are generated from the model: a change to one element reaches every view.
Ready to coordinate
Delivered in RVT with files for BIM integration, organized to federate with architecture and MEP.
One source for what comes next
Drawings, quantity takeoffs and coordination start from the migrated model, without redrawing the structure.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between CAD and structural BIM?
CAD works mainly with 2D drawings, while BIM brings geometry, technical information and coordination together in an intelligent model.
Can you work from existing CAD drawings?
Yes. The service is designed precisely to turn structural CAD information into professional BIM models.
What level of detail (LOD) do I need?
LOD 100: conceptual structural modeling. LOD 200: general definition of structural systems. LOD 300: coordinated, documented structural modeling. The level is set when we assess the scope, according to how the model will be used.
Does the service include structural design?
Not necessarily. The base scope covers migration and BIM modeling. Structural analysis and design can be contracted as a complementary service.
What if the CAD drawings have inconsistencies?
We carry out an initial technical review and report any inconsistency before the model is fully developed. The quality and accuracy of the BIM model depend directly on the CAD information provided: where information is incomplete or structural details are missing, additional technical validation may be required, and KAMON & CO. can support updating, cleaning up or partially rebuilding the information when the project calls for it.
Do you deliver editable files?
Yes, under the conditions agreed in the project proposal. The native model is delivered in Revit 2026 or later, and IFC for other platforms.
Which software do you use?
Mainly Revit for structural BIM modeling, AutoCAD to interpret and validate the CAD drawings, and Navisworks for coordination and review.
How long does the migration take?
It depends on the size, complexity and level of detail the project requires. The timeline follows the size of the project or the date the client needs: we assess the scope and confirm in the quote whether it can be met. We reply to every inquiry in under 24 business hours, and a formal quote takes 1 to 2 business weeks.
What does BIM offer over CAD?
Greater precision, better coordination, automated documentation and fewer errors on site.
Do you work with clients outside Colombia?
Yes. We are a fully remote firm: we receive the drawings online and deliver in RVT or IFC. When the project requires it, we sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) before receiving any information.
